Add to favourites Back to the A-Z list Ashgate Croft Special School We offer up to 154 places for children whose needs can be described as cognition and learning needs; specific learning difficulties; moderate learning difficulties; severe learning difficulties or profound and multiple learning difficulties. Ashgate Croft School caters for pupils from reception age 4 to 19 years old. We are a generic special school, catering for pupils from North East Derbyshire and sometimes neighbouring local authorities. Our pupils have a range of learning difficulties and disabilities:- severe and moderate learning difficulties (SLD and MLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), autism and challenging behaviour. Our school is split into three departments: Primary (Early Years, Key Stage 1 and 2), Middle (Key stage 3) and Upper (Key Stage 4 and 5). Within each department classes are organised based on the needs of the pupils as a priority over age. We have five specialist classes primarily for pupils with autism and/or challenging behaviour, which follow a highly structured approach and have a higher ratio of staffing. We have four classes that follow a sensory curriculum primarily for pupils with PMLD. Other facilities we have include a swimming pool, sensory room, soft play room and an Independent Living Unit.
