Specialist Community Dental Services

Derbyshire Community Health Service provides dental care to patients with complex, medical or disability needs that prevent them from accessing dental treatment through their general dental practitioner.

Our services include:

− Routine dental care

− General anaesthetic or sedation where appropriate

− Information and advice (including diagnosis of dental health problems, screening and general information on dental health and oral hygiene).

Access to the service is by referral only from health or other agencies.

This is an NHS service. Payment is required in accordance with NHS dental charges policy. Exemptions may apply.

Eligibility information

Eligibility: We only accept patients into this service who live in Derbyshire, or whose GP is based in Derbyshire.

Salaried dental services include specialist dental services for those who are unable to, or would not otherwise access care, because of their special needs.

Referral route: Access to the service is by referral from your dentist, GP or other health worker.

Transition arrangements: We work with patients to support them in managing their dental care. We refer patients to general dental practitioners if appropriate.
